School talent show try-outs

Today Ellie had her first singing "audition" for her elementary school talent show. We watched as several kids had already been told that their "talents" were not prepared and were not what the school was looking for to showcase in the talent show. Several kids had already sung part of their songs and were told to keep practicing as they had lots of time to memorize their song.

Well she went up and her CD would not play. So we tried in media player, but then the sound would not work. Next we pulled the song up on youtube for her to sing along with after the next child had her turn. Once we tried again, suddenly there were now 2 songs playing at the same time, so we had to hunt down the 2nd song. Once that song was killed and we got her playing she could finally sing.

Ellie started out very nervous, then she found her voice and really got into her song and had fun singing it. Tonight is the first time she has ever sang with a mic. So now she gets to keep practicing, and I get to find a way for her to work with a mic so she is even more comfortable. She was so excited afterwards that she not only completed her song (with only a few errors) but she had fun and sang with a mic in front of all the kids at school trying out.

Someone forgot to fill in the blanks at the school district. We had fun with this in the house with all the possible ideas for what the blanks could be.

Example: Verb:fighting; #16: #7 Feb 2012

Blasted Migraines...

I knew my migraines were bad and disruptive. However, due to being a stay at home mother I did not realize until starting PT where I have to drive 25 minutes each way, just how disruptive they really are.

One of the things I have been asked to do by my neurologist is to track how many times appointments, classes, work, or other such things have been cancelled due to my migraines. Well, most dr appts I have had to keep and found a way there regardless especially the kids specialists. When I was in college I taking online classes, so a migraine was not an excuse to not log in and do my classwork. I still did everything.

However, with PT I have had to reschedule or cancel to many sessions due to these blasted migraines. Today's session was cancelled because I finally broke down and saw my dr again and  got another shot. Migraine shots and driving are not compatible. I sure hope the neurologist I am seeing in a couple weeks that ONLY deals with complex migraine issues can help.
