Gingerbread Winter Wonderland!

The kids participated in a COVA (Colorado Virtual Academy) event called the Gingerbread Winter Wonderland and Ice-skating Event. They participated in the for fun gingerbread creation category. In this category, the kids simply created gingerbread creations to display in the huge edible community.

They had so much creating their special creations to show off. However, in the process of transporting Jairon’s suffered the earthquake effect, Zach’s slid off his lap and was barely caught by his toes due to a sudden stop, and Ellie well as she put it, “It just looks and smells so good my tummy is to grumbly and hungry!” She started eating hers during the 20 minute drive to the event.

Once we got checked in and found where to display the creations one of the other moms from our group (also a Rebecca) helped me reconstruct Jairon’s house. Thank goodness, the frosting he had used to “fix” the house on the way in was still wet and sticky. We were able to make his house look almost like it had before leaving home. Talk about one surprised kid to see his house standing after skating.

In addition to making gingerbread houses the kids got to ice-skate. This was the first time for Ellie and I think for Zach. Not sure about Jairon. What surprised me the most was the fact that Jairon got out on the ice and stayed out there. When roller skating he will NOT stay on the floor. Yet when on the ice he could NOT get enough.

Ellie had so much fun! She was all smiles and simply beaming while skating around with her cone out there. Zach was thrilled to be in the rink and moving. By the end, Zach was skating by himself. All six kids had a blast today and cant wait to skate again.
