CSAP

CSAP- The Colordo Student Assessment Program is designed to provide a picture of student performance to schools, districts, educators, parents and the community. The primary purpose of the assessment program is to determine the level at which Colorado students meet the Colorado Model Content Standards in the content areas assessed. (http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdeassess/index_csap.html)

This year we had 4 kids taking the CSAP tests with COVA (Colorado Virtual Academy). The testing enviroment was totally different from the testing enviroment they had experiened when in elementary school. The last time the younger kids were preparing for the CSAP's was not plesant for them and Jade was terrified to take the tests.

This year while exhausting the testing was over in 4 days. All the reading was done in one day, math in one, writing another, and science the last. Jairon was the first to finish as he did his reading last month. The first day of testing at the testing site was math. Everyone got the math done and over with on the 1st day. The 2nd day was the next dreaded test the writing. Next came everyones favorite the reading test. Corbyn was done by the 3rd day. The 4th day was the final testing day for for Celidah and Jade. This testing day covered science. Celidah and Jade also enjoyed these tests.

Driving to the test site on the 2nd day was really interesting because we did not know the way via the toll road yet. We ended up getting stuck in traffic due to a horrific accident. Orriginally the police report stated that individual killed got out to assess the damage to his vehicle and was struck by another vehicle due to fog. However, it was later stated the original wreck was medically induced. He had died due to the combination of medical emergency and the crash. He was out of the vehicle due to someone pulling him out of the vehicle and trying to help him. All the vehicles in the crash were all due to the original crash and the dense fog and the steep corner. The wreck was being blamed totally on the medical emergency and weather. That day there were so many wrecks on not only the freeways but also the main raods making driving slow and tedious.

Our 3rd day driving we learned about the toll road and cut our drive from over an hour to 45 minutes. The 4th day our drive took 20 minutes and we arrived 20 minutes early. We stayed in the truck for 15 minutes listening to the radio and finished our breakfast. Now if we could have had a drive like this even the first day!!!
